A Practice to Enjoy the Ride.

I had times when I knew the value of a moment, where I always wanted to remember and imprint it deeply. I saw gratitude through what I was looking at and cherished my life.

I know the Law of Change made me feel like my present was holding on by a thread. Being too attached to time limits can hurt our feelings.

Indeed, finding a balance between attachment and acceptance is not easy. It requires practice to let go of what it cannot control. It does get easier to meditate inner peace with acceptance that our time is temporary.

Cherish life and enjoy the ride.
It is important to understand that everyone in life is temporary and to recognize every moment with those we love, including ourselves. Appreciate this courage to love deeply while accepting the Law of Change.

Life is a short journey.
Being fully attending can help us create loving memories that will last our lifetime. So that when it is time to say goodbye forever, we realize having had the time can bring us comfort and joy when it is gone.

Attend to the present moment.
When my mind starts to wander, like meditation, I tell myself, “Hey, come back.”

  1. Breathe to relax.
  2. Be aware of the current sense, each and all.
  3. Stay attending to feelings and people.

For example,

  • Hearing. Listen to sounds going on in your environment. The noise, conversations, animals, all the sounds where you are. The voices of your loved ones.
  • Sight. All that visual to notice. Do appreciate the scene you are choosing to look at with your eyes. The expressions of family and friends.
  • Smell. Any smells that are around you in your moment. When you are hugging someone.
  • Taste. The flavors in your mouth. The food you are having while making the memory.
  • Touch. The physical sensation of feelings currently at your fingertips, hands, and body.

To touch our loved one’s presence is only possible in the present. If you miss someone, you can seek out other senses but not touch.

Another practice is verbal thoughts and words what you admire about the moment. For example,

  • Narrative. Describe the scene, moment in your mind.

Other techniques for development.

  • Meditation.
  • Practice knowing, choosing, dismissing a thought(s).
  • Practice to be calm.
  • Instantly focus on a sound and start meditating while focusing on that sound.
