Setting: “Freshman Orientation”

She made sure she was covered in beauty products from head to toes. She had been growing out her hair as long as possible since a couple years.

The weather was warm enough to dress in skinny capris and a light coral camisole top, tied with an adjustable bow.

She says goodbye and gets out of Mom’s car.
The school band is playing at the front entrance, making the day feel inviting and festive. She prepares to go inside her High School building for the first time, just like the boys and girls around her. She recognizes one or two of them from their previous school.

They no longer look like kids at fourteen.
She feels dressed up as she walks toward the front doors in her 2.5-inch high light pink heels, wearing makeup. She fixes her long, wavy black hair that has a few small strands of braids for a playful look and then pushes open the door into the glass atrium hallway.
