Self Awareness

The main character (MC), age 14, in her bedroom studying. She stands up to take a break. Suddenly, her friend calls her cellphone. She answers.

Friend: “Hi. Do you want to see this movie soon? Check out the trailer.”

MC: “I saw one of it already. It’s been out for some time.”

Friend: “No. It just came out.”

MC: “Come on, stop it. It’s been out. I have seen it, and maybe.”

Friend: “I promise you have not seen it because this movie trailer just released today.”

MC proceeds to explain it over the phone.

MC: “It’s difficult to just forget seeing something like that.”

Friend: “I don’t believe it. It sounds crazy.”

MC, thought: ‘I’m not lying..but it kind of does.., doesn’t it?’

Friend: “If I told you I saw something, you would think I’m crazy, too.”

MC, thought: ‘I might. Most likely.’

MC: “Yeah, you’re right. I have to go, I’ll talk to you later!”

Friend: “Do you” [ end call ]

She goes to her desk to turn on the computer.

MC, thought: ‘When did this trailer get released. Well, regardless, I don’t want anyone thinking I’m that.’
